Daimonji (大文字)

Comment: A short walk (2 hours) on the Eastern Ridge of the hills around Kyoto. Daimonji offers a nice view over the city.
How to get there:
Take the subway Tozai line to Keage station. Exit 2 is better, otherwise it will be difficult to cross the busy street.
Map:
No map is necessary. The poles of the Kyoto trail mark the entire trajectory very well once you get up on the ridge. To get there, take the little bridge right of the Biwako canal museum site and just keep climbing.
Other:
Just before reaching Daimonji, stop following the Kyoto trail and climb to the triangulation point. The end of the hike is just at Ginkakuji.
