Bunaga-take (武奈ヶ岳) (1214m)

Comment: Bunaga-take is the highest peak of the ridge along the Western coast of Lake Biwako. This area offers a well-marked dense network of trails that allow for many interesting day trips from Kyoto.
How to get there:
The bus line number 10 from Demachiyanagi via Ohara to Kutsuki has several stops from which trails climb Eastward towards Bunaga-take and the hills around. The other option is to climb from the shore of Lake Biwako. From most train stations trails can be accessed, and there is also the option of taking a bus from ... inward towards ...
Map:
There used to be a (very rough, more like a sketch) hiking map that Kyoto bus would give out for free at Demachiyanagi, but this service seems to have been stopped. So as usual, Yamachizu's map is probably your best choice.
Other:
Can be combined with Horai-san for nice two-day hikes. All the huts on the map seem to be either locked or broken, though.
